Think-Aloud Playtest - Seeb Defender

Fraculation - Developer: (external link) Dan Miller

Summary

I worked with Fraculation, an independent game developer, on Seeb Defender.
I began with a heuristic evaluation, which identified key areas for enhancing the game's visual elements. Then, we held a brainstorming session focused on integrating the storyline and character development more seamlessly with the game's loops and dynamics. To gain deeper insights into user experience, I conducted a think-aloud playtest, which provided feedback on the players' engagement and overall experience.

What I Learned

  1. Data and Results: Prioritizing key results is critical when collecting large datasets. My biggest challenge was not only prioritizing the interesting points found, but also estimating how much time it would take for me to complete the report and design comprehensive slides. My main objective was to guide him towards the next steps in development by providing an effective breakdown that was not overwhelming.
